General Rules and Guidelines

State Proficiency Events Program events, (PEP events) will be conducted following the Nevada State Proficiency Events Manual. Participants compete for individual, team and chapter awards. Each participant will receive a gold, silver or bronze medal based on his or her score. Participants will be evaluated on the basis of a defined standard. The rating sheets for the different proficiency events are not all the same.

For STAR Events information visit the National site at this link. Students and Advisers can access the STAR event materials through the national affiliation portal, affiliation must be completed in order to access these resources. Students may participate in one STAR Event.

Skill Demonstration Events provide opportunities for FCCLA members to demonstrate college- and career-readiness skills in Family and Consumer Sciences and related occupations. Members will use event criteria to demonstrate skills learned in their FCS courses and through their involvement in FCCLA. These events may serve as an introduction to FCCLA’s competitive events and require a shorter time commitment than STAR Events projects.
