Jamie Stevens is the Vice President of Community Service, she goes to East Career and Technical Academy, and next fall she will be a sophomore in high school. As of right now, Jamie is a freshman in high school. Jamie is in the Early Childhood Education program at East Career and Technical Academy, which is what prompted her to join FCCLA. She has been a member of FCCLA for one year. Jamie has won a few awards and recognitions. These include a gold and silver medal at the State Leadership Conference in Reno this past March. Also her chapter won the Ultimate Image Award at State.
Jamie plans on attending Great Basin Community College, and then UNLV to finish her degree. First, she would like to get a Master’s degree. Then later in life she would like to get her Doctorate’s degree. Jamie’s career goal is to become an elementary school teacher, preferably kindergarten; first; second; or maybe even third grade. Jamie wants to be a teacher because she loves children and has a passion for helping others. She believes teaching is the best way to help others.
FCCLA is a never ending opportunity to become a leader and better yourself as a person. FCCLA is a great experience that no one should miss out on. Jamie feels that FCCLA can make a significant difference in a person’s life. Becoming a state officer is changing Jamie for the better.
